SUSTAINABILITY OF THE CITIES IN TURKEY

Sustainability of the Cities in Turkey and the "Anatolian Tigers"

As an output of a project sponsored by Mastercard, using an extensive data set from existing sources as well as a survey of company managers, sustainability indexes were computed for Turkish cities. The evaluation report was published in April 2011, available in pdf format.

As an extension of the project, the emerging cities in Turkey referred to as the "Anatolian Tigers" in the literature, will be scrutinized using the data produced for the "sustainability" study. How can we identify the Anatolian Tigers? Do they significantly differ from other cities? Are they sustainable? The findings will further be elaborated using focus-group techniques.
